BRUTAL SCRUFFS
Riviera Gallery, Toronto Island, October 2024
These sculptures are formal, abstract 3D compositions, often using the human face or figure as a reference. My approach is guided by the materials I have in my studio, collected and contributed over the years, and is exploratory and intuitive in nature. The lack of a planned outcome leads to spontaneity, and a sense of adventure in the process.
I work on a number of pieces at the same time to avoid getting stuck, and keep my eye fresh. A period of time away from an unfinished work usually gives a different perspective and a way to continue.
All were created in my studio at Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts on Toronto Island.
A red dot before title indicates piece has been sold.
